My Family Journey Experience in The Pushkar City

Last year 2012 was really amazing for me, as in November 2012, I was in city Pushkar with my family. Pushkar is a city which is situated at the edge of the Thar Desert and hosts the world’s largest camel fair annually in the month of November. Pushkar is also called a city of temples and it is one of the most spiritual places in Rajasthan.

Pushkar Fair Tour

DAY 1
We belong and reside in Delhi, as our tour was preplanned and we decided to stay in the tent-accommodation, which will be arranged their by a 5 star property. It was already booked by us. A day before the Pushkar fair started, we left for the Pushkar city by road (in our own new BMW 7 - series). On the way to Pushkar, we halted at an eating joint, then in Ajmer and at around 5 pm, we reached to our camp.
We checked-in, got freshen-up and drove to Ajmer (15Km) to visit Dargah (A Muslim Spiritual place). This Dargah is very popular pilgrim centre among the Muslims and is visited throughout the year from round the globe.

Pushkar Lake Rajasthan
It was a late dark evening, when we reached our camp. We had a wonderful Rajasthani cuisine accompanied with traditional Rajasthani folk music & performances. As the time was passing, our heartbeat were raising to see the “World’s Largest Camel Fair”.

DAY 2
Next day, after an early breakfast, we left to visit the Brahma temple (An only Brahma temple in the world) and the Pushkar Sarovar. Next to the Brahma temple, there was a ground, where Pushkar fair is organized.

We were standing with holding our camera and we saw flock of camels arriving to the ground. We were amazed seeing such huge caravan of camels.

Photography Tour to Pushkar City

As we stepped into the ground, we saw women dressed-up in colorful Rajasthani style sarees and men wearing colorful turbans. There were several activities inside which were awesome to see like rope walk, animal race competitions, a man with 5 meter long moustache, cricket matches and food stalls etc.

We spoke to a camel owner asking him, why there are more camels then the men? He replied camels are brought here for trading and to make them to take part in several competitions. We enjoyed our whole day between camels and took many photographs of them.

 Camel Festival in Pushkar
In the evening, a local told us to go to the Pushkar market to enjoy eating malpua, pyaz kachori with kadi, sweet lassi etc which are the specialties of the city. We returned to our camp, had our wonderful dinner and slept as we were very tired.

DAY 3
After an early breakfast, we fastened our seatbelt and drove back to Delhi.
